Lindblom snags signed uniform from Lions’ LeeAbout an hour before the game between the Samsung Lions and Lotte Giants in Daegu on Saturday, Giants pitcher Josh Lindblom approached the Lions dugout and searched for veteran hitter Lee Seung-yuop.
Lindblom wasn’t trying to say hello to the all-time home run leader in the KBO; he was going to get an autographed jersey.
Lindblom has a hobby of collecting other famous athletes’ jerseys. During his career in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates, Lindblom said that he collected jerseys from star baseball players like Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Nolan Ryan.
The 28-year-old right-hander originally planned to buy Lee’s jersey from the merchandise shop and then ask him to sign it.
However, Giants officials heard about his plan and asked Lee to help. The lefty hitter, who is also the five-time MVP in KBO, took Lindblom to the locker and signed a uniform that was on the hanger.
In the dugout afterwards, the two players exchanged words about their careers and games in the KBO.
Lindblom, who is having his first year in the KBO, is going 10-7 with 3.36 ERA in 25 games. He has 138 strikeouts, third best in the league.
The American is also known for his charity work, inviting children to see baseball games for free.
