Korean Olympic national team defender Seo Young-jae has joined Hamburger SV with a three-year deal, the German club announced on Wednesday (Korean time).
The 20-year-old has been playing for Korea’s under-23 squad led by coach Shin Tae-yong. He played in the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers in March as well as four friendly matches held in May and June.
Hamburger SV, the six-time German Bundesliga champions, is the former club of Son Heung-min, who played there for three seasons before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.
Hamburg said that Seo will first play for the team’s U-23 squad. With the addition of Seo, there are eight Koreans playing in the German league.
