Choi Hyoung-woo, a slugger from the Samsung Lions who turned free agent (FA) this year, signed a 10 billion won ($8 million) deal with the KIA Tigers, the most expensive FA deal in the history of Korean baseball.

The Tigers announced Thursday they have signed a four-year deal with the outfielder. In addition to the four billion won signing bonus, Choi will make 1.5 billion won as base salary.

Choi, who started with the Lions in 2002, enjoyed the best stint of his career this season. Despite his team finishing at ninth in the league, Choi banked three titles from the league after batting .376. He also led the league in RBIs with 144, and in hits with 195.

“I offer my sincere gratitude to the Tigers staff for putting such a high value on me,” Choi said.
