Team Kim sweeps up LG sponsorship contract

LG Electronics has struck a sponsorship deal with Team Kim, Korea’s silver-medalist women’s curling team, making them the new face of the electronics giant’s wireless vacuum cleaner CordZero.

LG Electronics said Wednesday that it will sponsor Team Kim for the next four years. The team will also be called upon to model other products from LG Electronics while under contract.

“The women’s curling team, which surprised the world with their superb teamwork and capacity, will contribute in elevating the status of CordZero in Korea’s wireless vacuum cleaner industry,” said an official from LG Electronics in a statement.

Videos of people pretending to curl with wireless robot vacuum cleaners have gone viral in Korea in recent weeks after Team Kim snatched a surprise silver medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

LG Electronics plans to demonstrate three CordZero vacuum cleaners - the A9, R9 and T9 - in a new commercial featuring skip Kim Eun-jung and her team.

The new advertisement will be unveiled later this month.
