Makoto Shinkai set to visit Korea

Japanese director Makoto Shinkai is coming to Korea this month to promote his latest film “Weathering With You.”

The famed director of “Your Name” (2016), which sold over 3.7 million tickets in Korea, will make public appearances in Korea on Oct. 29 and 30, announced the film’s Korean distributor MediaCastle.

Shinkai is beloved by many Korean fans for his animated films such as “The Garden of Words” (2013) and “5 Centimeters per Second” (2007).
His upcoming trip to Korea comes as part of an earlier promise he made to local fans to visit when his next film premieres.

“Weathering With You,” a fantasy romance about a runaway boy who befriends a girl who can manipulate the weather, will hit local theaters on Oct. 30.
