At the top of the list was “Kingdom,” Netflix’s first Korean original series. Written by Kim Eun-hee, who also wrote tvN’s “Signal” (2016), and directed by Kim Seong-hun, who was behind the 2016 film “Tunnel,” the Netflix hit is a six-episode thriller series that revolves around a zombie plague that causes turmoil in the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
Starring actors Ju Ji-hoon, Bae Doo-na, Ryu Seung-ryong and Kim Sang-ho, the series begins with the king catching a strange disease that apparently turns him into a “zombie” who is only active at night.
At No. 2 was the Ryan Reynolds action blockbuster “6 Underground,” followed by “The Witcher” and “Crash Landing on You,” which stars actors Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin and Seo Ji-hye and revolves around a story of a South Korean heiress crash landing into North Korea by mistake.
Also included in the list were comedian Park Na-rae’s stand-up comedy act “Park Na-rae: Glamour Warning,” “Persona” starring singer IU and actor Bae Doo-na and “When the Camellia Blooms” starring Kong Hyo-jin, Kang Ha-neul and Kim Ji-seok.
Netflix said it compared the viewing rates of the shows’ first 28 days to tally the rankings.
