Hyundai Construction, KT partner on self-driving truck

KT will partner with Hyundai Construction Equipment to provide a 5G-enabled control system for self-driving industrial trucks manufactured by the machinery company.
The telecommunication services provider said on Tuesday that the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding to offer the advanced control network that will allow for simultaneous control of multiple self-driving fork lift trucks.
The 5G-powered systems are expected to reduce latency by activating the automated trucks with the help of KT’s other IT infrastructure and artificial intelligence technology. Hyundai Construction Equipment released its self-driving industrial truck last April, which is able to drive itself on a short route while avoiding obstacles.
