Coupang, Samsung workers test positive for coronavirus
Production facilities at Samsung Electronics and a logistics center at e-commerce company Coupang were linked to new coronavirus infections over the weekend.
Two workers at the tech giant’s semiconductor plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, were confirmed infected on Saturday, although the company said it didn’t affect the operation of the memory chip line.
A worker from Samsung C&T, a construction and fashion affiliate, also tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday. He had worked for a construction site to turn Samsung Display’s outdated liquid crystal display (LCD) production lines into those for quantum-dot display production.
A married couple working at Coupang’s warehouse in Ilsan, Gyeonggi, also contracted the virus on Saturday, prompting the center to shut down.
As a result, Coupang notified users of potential delivery delays in the Gyeonggi region.
