Trot singer Lee Chan-won tested positive for Covid-19, putting the broadcasting industry back on high alert.

“Lee was diagnosed with the coronavirus this morning and immediately went into self quarantine to await to hear from the government on what steps to take next,” promotional agency New Era Project, who co-manages Lee’s activities, said on Thursday. “Others who came into contact with Lee are also taking tests and are self isolating while they wait for results.”

According to cable channel TV Chosun, Lee participated in the filming of trot program “Ppong School” on Dec. 1. All cast and crew, including trot singers Im Young-woong, YoungTak and Jang Min-ho, have been tested and are in isolation. Tests results for Im and Jang came back positive.

TV Chosun stated that they will be temporarily shutting down their building in Sangam-dong, western Seoul, and escalate precautionary measures to the highest level. However, the cable channel said there will be no changes to the airing schedule of the upcoming trot competition program “Miss Trot 2” on Dec. 17. While Lee appears on the first episode, it was recorded before he tested positive.

Entertainer Lee Min-ho, better known as Boom, who appears together with Lee on both of the above-mentioned programs, was also tested  for Covid and is self isolating. SBS is trying to find another DJ to host their radio program “Boom Boom Power” and filming schedules for MBC show “Where is My Home” have also changed.

A string of other celebrities such as entertainers Park Myung-soo, Seo Jang-hoon, Lee Hwi-jae, Lee Ha-jeong and and singer Lee Jeok, who were directly or indirectly in contact with Lee, are also reported to have been tested for the virus and are awaiting results. Updates from local media later reported that Boom and Park tested negative.
