Boy band BTS and Japanese rock band Back Number joined forces to create a theme song for the upcoming Japanese movie “Signal,” according to Japanese news outlets such as Billboard Japan and Oricon News.

The theme song “Film Out” was initially drafted by Back Number member Iyori Shimizu while BTS member Jungkook added his own melody.

“We were really attracted to the melody of Shimizu’s demo version,” said BTS. “I had a very active conversation with Jungkook. I’m happy that BTS members’ personalities and expressiveness completed a sentimental yet powerful song,” added Shimizu.

The movie’s lead actor Kentaro Sakaguchi commented that “the great work by BTS and Back Number will add meaning to this film.”

“Signal” is a sequel to the 2018 Japanese TV series of the same name, which was a remake of the 2016 Korean TV series also called "Signal." The film will be released in Japanese theatres on April 2.

BTS also sang the theme song, titled “Don’t Leave Me” (2018), for the “Signal” TV series.
