KIRD, Ajou University and University of Sussex sign an MOU

The Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science and Technology (KIRD), the University of Sussex Business School and Ajou University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) Wednesday to establish a policy network to foster science and technology professionals.

The HR Research Office at KIRD, the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, and New Industrial Convergence Technology Research Center at Ajou agreed to: develop joint research activities including staff, doctoral and post-doctoral research; jointly operate academic programs; and facilitate student and staff exchanges. They also agreed to exchange information, such as the results of teaching and research collaborations as a part of efforts to share science and technology strategies and policies.

Prof. Jeremy Hall, director of SPRU, said in a statement, “I’m delighted to work with KIRD and Ajou, two of South Korea’s leading science and technology policy institutes. SPRU has a long history of collaborations with Korean researchers, and we look forward to strengthening these ties as South Korea continues its trajectory as a leader in science, technology and innovation.”

The SPRU, founded in 1966, is a leading global center of research on science, technology and innovation policy and management.

KIRD was established in 2007 to increase efficiency of national research and development.

Ajou’s research center was founded in 2015 to promote science and industrial convergence studies.
