Hyundai Card to offer Z series of cards

Hyundai Card on Monday unveiled Hyundai Card Z series, its first new alphabet card series in eight years.

The company's previous alphabet cards, which are named after different letters in the alphabet, include Hyundai Card M and Hyundai Card X. The M series focused on M points, which can be used like cash. The X series focused on cash-back rewards.

The Z series will offer heavy discounts in certain areas. The company said it finds recurrent expenditures in the daily lives of its customers via data analysis.

The Z series cards will consist of three types of cards -- Z Family, Z Work and Z Ontact -- depending on the areas the cards will offer discounts.

For instance, the Hyundai Card Z Ontact targets people who prefer life online. It will offer 70 percent discounts on membership fees of major online shopping malls and a 30 percent discount on digital content subscription services like Netflix and YouTube Premium. Ontact is a portmanteau of the words online and "untact," or social distancing.

Annual membership fee for the new Z series is 10,000 won ($8.90).
