The public-private-civil partnership of SK Broadband is gaining traction. SK Broadband is hosting a national contest for content creation, the 2nd Media Creation Contest “Television of Our Village,” to strengthen the connection with and contribute to local communities. The contest is open for submissions until May 18.

Hand in hand with the Community Media Foundation and the National Association of Community Mediacenters, SK Broadband is holding the contest for local communities in a bid to enhance the regionality of broadcasting and to encourage local residents to create content in relation to their communities.

In June 2020, SK Broadband signed an agreement with the Community Media Foundation and the National Association of Community Mediacenters to invigorate local communities in content creation.

The result was the opening by SK Broadband of Media Creation Support Centers in ten different locations across the nation last year. The center aims to support the creation and broadcasting of content and help local residents develop media literacy through education and support programs.

The first project of the center was the previous Media Creation Contest, which was held in the second half of last year. The theme of the last contest was empathy, further divided into three separate categories: empathy between generations, empathy between big and small businesses and empathy for eliminating social and regional disparity. Of the 431 videos that were submitted, 19 have been selected to be aired through the local B tv channel.

For the 2nd Media Creation Contest, unlike the previous contest in which participants had to hand in their finished videos, the contestants are required to submit a project proposal instead. Fifteen proposals will be selected for the actual video production and will be provided with professional mentoring.

The finished content will be aired through B tv, contributing to the creation of a virtuous cycle of local content, SK Broadband said.
