Hankook signs deal to supply tires for e-tron GT

Hankook Tire & Technology, Korea’s No. 1 tire maker, said Tuesday it will supply its Ventus S1 evo3 ev tire to Audi’s pure-electric e-tron GT model.

The Ventus S1 evo3 ev is an electric vehicle (EV)-dedicated tire that minimizes weight, noise and resistance.

Reducing noise generated from the road has become especially important for tires that go into EV models as there is no longer an engine sound to offset road noises.

Hankook Tire & Technology has been focusing on research and development of EV tires, expanding partnerships with EV brands around the world. It currently supplies tires for Porsche’s Taycan EV.

It also has been selected as the exclusive tire supplier for Formula E, an EV racing championship, from the 2022/23 season.

Audi’s e-tron GT is a high-performance EV sedan, which is topped with 93.4 kilowatt lithium-ion battery and can go 488 kilometers per charge.
