Samsung factory in South Africa looted, set on fire

Samsung Electronics became the latest target of looting and arson by violent rioters in South Africa, following the same damage to LG Electronics’ factory in the country.

A Samsung’s warehouse in Cato Ridge in the KwaZulu-Natal province, the center of the unrest, was plundered and set ablaze on Tuesday, a day after the same thing happened to an LG Electronics’ production site in the province.

A spokesperson from Samsung Electronics said that no casualties were reported while it is immediately impossible to determine the exact financial damage incurred by looters protesting the jailing of former president Jacob Zuma.

The Korean Embassy in South Africa has warned Korean residents to stay indoors.
