The plane was scheduled to fly to Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, in the evening on Korea’s Liberation Day. Hong Beom-do was a general who commanded a Korean liberation army unit to battle the Japanese army in Manchuria in 1920s. Hong’s remains were retrieved from a cemetery in Kyzylorda on Saturday for repatriation to his homeland, 78 years after his death in the Central Asian country. [YONHAP]
