The commissioner of the National Tax Service of Korea held meetings with his counterparts from Georgia and India this week.

Kim Dae-ji met Levan Kakava, Head of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance in Georgia, in Tbilisi on Monday and India's Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj in New Delhi on Thursday.

Topics discussed at the meetings included resolving and preventing Korean companies’ double taxation problem; sharing ideas on digital transformation of tax systems; building a network to prevent offshore tax evasion.

The tax chiefs agreed that digitization of tax systems would help reduce tax evasion and raise public trust in them, according to the National Tax Service.

Kim explained how tax services can use blockchain technologies and big data analysis to tackle tax evasion during the meetings. The use of the so-called metaverse and artificial intelligence were also discussed by Kim.
