Galaxy A53 and A33 phones will offer quality nighttime shooting comparable to the more expensive Galaxy S models, Samsung Electronics said Thursday.

The Galaxy A phones are the budget lineup from Samsung Electronics and are half the price of Galaxy S and Galaxy Flip phones.

A53 phones will be priced at 599,500 won ($495) and start selling on April 1 in Korea. A33s will start selling in Europe first, at 369 euros ($407) beginning on April 22.

The Korean release date and price for the Galaxy A33 have not been decided yet, but it will likely be set at around 300,000 won. The latest Galaxy S22 models start at 999,900 won.

"We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the positive impact mobile technology can have on their lives," said Roh Tae-moon, president and head of the mobile experience unit at Samsung Electronics.

"With the latest Galaxy A series release, we're making it easier than ever to enjoy Galaxy's advanced, innovative mobile experience at a great value."

The Galaxy A53 will be slightly bigger and heavier, with a 6.5-inch display and weighing 189 grams. The A33 will come with a 6.4-inch display and weigh 186 grams.

The two new models, both introduced as 5G phones, have a quad-camera setup at the rear. The A53 will have a 64-megapixel main camera and the A33 a 48-megapixel main camera. For the front cameras, the A53 will have a 32-megapixel camera, while A33 has 13-megapixel gear.

The two models will feature advanced photo-editing software that automatically takes 12 pictures when shooting in night-mode and merges them together to bring out a single picture with less noise. The software also automatically adjusts the camera framerate to take brighter and clearer videos at low lighting.

A new octa-core 5-nanometer chip is used as the mobile application processor (AP), which will ensure higher performance levels than the previous Galaxy A phones, according to a Samsung Electronics spokesperson. Other details of the processor were not shared.

This is the second time that Samsung Electronics has held an "Unpacked" event for the Galaxy A budget phone.
