Trot sensation Lim Young-woong released his first full-length album “Im Hero” on Monday, six years after his debut.

Lim rose to fame through TV Chosun’s hit audition show “Mr. Trot” (2020), which sparked the trot trend in Korea. Although K-trot is yet to sweep the globe like K-pop has, the genre is extremely popular domestically, particularly among middle-aged and older Koreans.

“Not only me, but also my fans waited so long for this album,” said Lim during an online press conference on Monday. “I did my best to put in a wide variety of songs. Since it’s my first-ever full-length album, I really wanted to get it right. Just when I thought I’d completed it, something would make me think it’s not enough, and I'd go back to the beginning on several occasions.”

“There’s no such thing as being perfectly satisfied, but I think I can say it’s a bit satisfying because I did my best,” the singer said with a smile.

The lead track “Can We Meet Again” is a heart-wrenching ballad that captures Lim’s expressive voice. The song's music video, filmed in Paris, will be revealed on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
