Kang Daniel sold over 316,630 copies of his new album “The Story” in the first week of its release, according to Korea's album sales tracker Hanteo Chart on Tuesday.

Kang released the album last week. The lyrics of all 10 songs on "The Story" were written by Kang. This is the former boy band Wanna One member’s first full-length album in two years and 10 months, as well as his first music in 13 months since his last EP “Yellow.”

The lead track “Upside Down” topped local music streaming platforms upon release and landed in the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Top Albums chart in some 20 regions including Japan, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia.

The music video for "Upside Down" surpassed 10 million views on YouTube just 10 hours after being uploaded. As of Tuesday afternoon, it had 20 million views.

In addition to the music video of the lead track, Kang's agency KONNECT Entertainment is set to release three more videos for the tracks "Don't Tell (Feat. Jessi)," "Parade" and "How We Live" in June.

Kang debuted in 2017 after winning first place on Mnet’s hit idol audition show “Produce 101.” He and ten other finalists formed the project boy band Wanna One, which disbanded in early 2019. He debuted as a soloist in July 2019.
