Hur Young-in, SPC Group chairman, attended the Choose France summit in Paris and promised investments in France.

He and Hur Jin-soo, his son and president of Paris Croissant, attended the summit on Monday, an annual investment promotion event held since 2018. Hur Young-in and his family control Paris Croissant, which runs various franchises such as Paris Baguette and Shake Shack.

The event was hosted at the Palace of Versailles. French President Emmanuel Macron attended along with representatives of such global companies as CocaCola and Disney.

At the summit, Hur Young-in and Hur Jin-soo announced they will open more Paris Baguette branches in France. The group opened its first Paris Baguette branch in France in 2014 and opened a second in 2021.

The two also promised to build a factory in the country. Paris Croissant has factories in Tianjin, China and another opening in Malaysia next year.

“We plan to expand our business in Europe with a focus in France, and actively engage in business abroad,” said a spokesperson for SPC Group.

In June, Paris Croissant’s wholly owned subsidiary SPC Euro acquired Lina’s Développement, a French company that owned sandwich chain Lina’s.
