Neowiz's Lies of P is big winner at Gamescom 2022
Neowiz’s roleplaying game Lies of P was a winner thrice over at the Gamescom Award 2022.
Lies of P was named the Most Wanted Sony PlayStation Game on Aug. 23, the day before the Gamescom festival’s opening day, the first time a Korean console game won that title. On Saturday, it won the Best Action Adventure Game award and the Best Role Playing Game award.
This is the first time a console game developed in Korea won three awards at Gamescom, the biggest games event in Europe.
Lies of P is a PC and console roleplaying game (RPG) based on the “Pinocchio” tale. Set in the late 19th century, Lies of P is a “soulslike” game, a sub-genre of games that are usually very difficult to conquer with dark-fantasy themes. It is scheduled for release next year.
During the Gamescom event, Neowiz unveiled a two-hour demo version of the game for visitors to play at the booth.
“We were able to see the high expectations for Lies of P,” said Choi Ji-won, producer of the game. “We will aim to succeed in the global market with the unique gameplay of Lies of P.”
This year’s Gamescom began on Wednesday and will run through Monday. The annual trade fair started in 2009.
Korean game companies including Neowiz, Krafton and Nexon took part. Krafton revealed Moonbreaker, a digital board game developed by its studio Unknown Worlds. Nexon presented The Finals, a first-person shooting (FPS) game previously announced as Project Discovery.
