Fires were reported at the Posco steel plant in Pohang, North Gyeongsang, Tuesday morning.[NEWS1]

Two fires at Posco's steel mill in Pohang have been completely extinguished.

No casualties have been reported as of press time.

The fires broke out at 7:17 a.m., one each at a hot rolling facility and a stainless steel facility, both in Pohang, North Gyeongsang.

Posco added the flames and smoke shown in the photos were not due to the fires, but the emissions of by-product gases.

"In the process of the burning of coke oven gas, the by-product gases were released outside as the fan was automatically turned off due to the typhoon," Posco said in a statement.

The company is currently investigating the extent of the damage and whether or not the fires were caused due to the Typhoon Hinnamnor.
