Typhoon Hinnamnor was the fifth-strongest typhoon to hit Busan in the past decade, according to Busan Provincial Meteorological Administration Tuesday.
Typhoon Hinnamnor recorded maximum wind speeds of 28.5 meters per second (63.8 miles per hour), coming in after Typhoon Maysak in 2020, Kong-rey in 2018, Haishen in 2020 and Omais in 2021.
These typhoons all occurred in the fall, most in September.
“Four typhoons, excluding Omasis which occurred in late August, took place in the fall,” said a spokesperson for the metrological administration.
“The unusual extension of La Nina may be one of the causes of these typhoons occurring in the fall.”
