Chey meets Kishida in Tokyo during Asian Business Council

SK Inc. Chairman Chey Tae-won met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Thursday during a forum held in Tokyo. 
 
The two discussed business cooperation.
 
Chey, who doubles as chairman of Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), is in Japan to pitch for Busan's World Expo bid and learn about Osaka's preparations for the 2025 World Expo.
 
In Tokyo, he was attending the Asia Business Council, an annual forum established after the Asian financial crisis by a Hong Kong-based organization, where the prime minister delivered the keynote address.  
 
The theme of the forum was the future of capitalism in Asia.
 
Other attendees included Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank, and Hitachi Chairman Toshiaki Higashihara.  
 
The next destination is New York, according to the KCCI, a visit that coincides with President Yoon Suk-yeol's planned attendance of the UN General Assembly at the United Nations headquarters on Sept. 20.  
 
Chey is the private sector chair of the Bid Committee for World Expo 2030 Busan.
 
Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong arrived in Britain on Friday, following a visit to Mexico and Panama. He is assigned by the presidential office to promote Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo.
 
President Yoon Suk-yeol will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, according to the presidential office.
