2022 Myeong-dong Space Beer Festival to open on Sept. 23, 24

Myeong-dong’s first space-themed beer festival is making its way into the popular shopping district this weekend.

The 2022 Myeong-dong Space Beer Festival will take place on Sept. 23 and 24, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. both days.

According to central Seoul's Jung District, it is the festival’s first edition and is an attempt to attract more tourists to the area. It is being hosted by local start-up The Satellite Brewing and the Myeong-dong Special Tourist Zone Council.

People will be able to participate in different events, like tasting some 10 different types of craft beer or taking quizzes to find out what beer best suits them. There will be a hang-out spot with an outer space theme and plenty of photo op spots.

The festival will also have rappers like Bigone and Lilboi perform at the Myeongdong Theater.

“Myeong-dong has seen a dip in visitors due to Covid-19, and we sincerely hope that it sees more visitors with this event,” said Kim Gil-sung, head of Jung District. “It’s perfect for an autumn night out with close people, to drink beer and enjoy watching performances.”
