The purpose of the renovations were to incorporate the hotel's surrounding natural environment, such as Dongbaek Island and Haeundae Beach, into its design.

The new lobby is a classic, spacious area that brings out the colors of Dongbaek Island and the beach to recreate the lively atmosphere of Haeundae.

The Panorama Lounge now boasts the largest selection of single malt whiskeys in Busan, according to the hotel. Contemporary yet classic, the bar is stylishly designed with a brass-colored interior and sparkling glass adornments. The space is open during the day as well for afternoon tea. In the evening, it offers 80 different types of whiskey, signature cocktails and bar food.

The color scheme of the new rooms incorporates the blues and greens of the sea and forest; the brown of the pine and camellia trees around Dongbaek Island; and the beige of the beach sand. The furniture has also been scaled down to enhance the sense of space. The existing single armchair has been switched out for a sofa as well.

The new swimming pool has an outdoor terrace with an open view of Haeundae Beach. The indoor area has also been redesigned to bring in a balanced amount of natural light and soft indoor lighting for guests to feel the most relaxed.

“With the renovation project being carried out over three years, we wanted to preserve the classic charm of the existing Westin Josun Busan, while adding contemporary and sensuous interior elements to provide a more comfortable rest for our guests," The Westin Josun Busan’s General Manager Park Sang-jo said. "The Westin Josun Busan will always keep in mind the values of ‘guests and tradition,’ which it has been pursuing for a long time and strives to provide the best service as well as the new space.”

The Westin Josun Busan is a five-star hotel that opened in June 1978. It has 290 rooms and five food and beverage venues.
