Nongshim released a limited edition of the brand’s representative bottled water Baeksansu, as part of a fundraiser for children with leukemia and cancer.

This will be Nongshim’s second donation via limited edition Baeksansu sales and the steps will be similar to the project conducted last year. The special edition bottled water will be on sale until the end of this year, and a meaningful digit of 2.15 percent of the profit will be donated on Feb. 15 next year to commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day. Nongshim already donated 100 million won ($69,500) on Feb. 15 this year.

Nongshim held a drawing contest for children with leukemia and cancer in February this year. Fifteen award-winning artworks from the competition will be printed on the labels of the limited edition Baeksansu. Nongshim hopes that this presents children with a special experience of having their artworks printed on purchasable goods, as well as raising public awareness.

“The main purpose for this project to deliver warm words of encouragement to child patients suffering or recovering from leukemia and cancer,” an official from Nongshim said. “Under our objectives to enhance the overall perception of these children, we hope that every step we take in proceeding this project assists and encourages young patients fighting the sickness.”

Nongshim has been providing Baeksansu free of charge for young leukemia and cancer patients since 2018 so that these children can access clean water without having to worry about financial burden. The company currently delivers three boxes of 500 milliliter Baeksansu bottles to about 300 families that have a child patient.

Nongshim has been undergoing a variety of events to effectively show its love and assistance for child patients. “Shim Shim Kits” and “Shim Shim Trekking” are all other measures that reflect Nongshim’s active support and participation. For patients who have successfully received a bone-marrow transplantation, which is often considered the second birthdate of leukemia and cancer patients, a “Shim Shim Kit” is sent to celebrate the memorable event. The company also practices trekking events to support children suffering from leukemia and cancer via “Shim Shim Trekking.”
