JTBC drama 'Reborn Rich' tops charts of Rakuten Viki

JTBC drama series “Reborn Rich” starring Song Joong-ki topped the daily charts in 50 regions on the global streaming platform Rakuten Viki.

According to Rakuten Viki on Thursday, the series topped the charts in countries such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Britain, France, Italy, Spain and New Zealand.

The record was reached after the series began airing last week. The platform hypothesizes that the global popularity of Song, well-known for his hits such as KBS2 drama series “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” (2010) and “Descendants of the Sun” (2016), influenced the success of the series.

Fronting Song, Lee Sung-min and Shin Hyun-been as leads, the series is a fantasy drama revolving around a loyal employee named Yoon Hyun-woo working for Sunyang Group, who is betrayed and murdered by his company. He wakes up to find himself reincarnated in the body of the youngest grandson of the Sunyang Group head.

Rakuten Viki, based in the United States, streams content produced by Asian regions and is made available in 190 countries. The platform streams Korean drama series such as tvN’s “Love in Contract” (2022), Season 2 of “Yumi’s Cells” (2022), KBS2’s “Curtain Call” (2022-23) and Tving original reality show “Young Actors’ Retreat” (2022).
