A fire broke out on subway line 3 of the Seoul Metro, causing all trains set to pass through Muakjae Station in Seodaemun District to be stopped for over an hour Friday.

Between Yaksu Station to Gupabal Station, trains were stopped or delayed due to the fire. The local fire department reported that flames were extinguished as of 8:30 a.m.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government sent out text messages notifying people in the vicinity that commuters should take a different route on their way to work, but many faced difficulties getting to offices on time due to the continued delays.

The city government announced that they were operating a task team to deal with delays and commuting issues due to fires and roads being blocked by ice due to heavy snow and low temperatures.
