Through Jan. 20: Fairmont Ambassador Seoul Hotel greets Korea’s Lunar New Year Festival with a selection of dining certificates, ideal for sharing the gift of luxury hotel dining, available to purchase until Jan. 20.

Curated to offer options for every taste, the selection features four certificates: dining for two at Spectrum buffet restaurant, where an epicurean menu of Eastern and Western-style dishes awaits; a five- or six-course set menu for two at modern European restaurant Mariposa, serving gourmet dishes crafted from the finest locally-sourced ingredients; and High Tea at Fairmont for two, served at The Atrium Lounge and featuring newly-inspired dessert and savory menus with each changing season.

Dining certificates are available to purchase from The Atrium Lounge on the first floor of Fairmont Ambassador Seoul.


Announcement: Fairmont Ambassador Seoul is pleased to announce the appointment of Franck Loison as the hotel’s new general manager on Jan. 2.

Loison joins the hotel with much of his career spent working with Accor in Southeast Asia, winning a series of awards notably for his leadership and performance. Prior to joining Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, Loison was general manager of several unique properties including The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta Indonesia, Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Malaysia, Pullman Legian Beach Bali, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara Malaysia and lately the Oakwood Residence Hanoi, Vietnam.

On assuming his first position in Korea, Loison commented, “I am deeply honored to be joining the team of the iconic Fairmont Ambassador Seoul. The hotel is renowned for creating inspired guest experiences, and I look forward to working with the team.” He continued, “Seoul is a dynamic world-class city, and Fairmont Ambassador Seoul with its luxury accommodation, state-of-the-art meeting facilities, unique culinary concepts and wellness center, is perfectly positioned to provide luxury and innovative guest experiences to all our guests and visitors.”


Through March 12: The Atrium Lounge at Fairmont Ambassador Seoul Hotel presents Strawberry High Tea at Fairmont, an indulgent celebration of winter’s favorite fruit. This season’s high tea features a selection of desserts and beverages crafted from fresh strawberries, complemented by a menu of savory items.

The dessert menu includes strawberry mousse, made from white mousse and strawberry coulis and crafted to evoke the shape of a seolhyang strawberry; moist, soft strawberry terrine; strawberry Mont-blanc filled with strawberry jam and monté cream; strawberry tiramisu, with mascarpone cream and strawberry syrup; Eton Mess, a traditional English dessert crafted from layers of vanilla cream and fresh strawberries; and soft cranberry scones and cheese scones.

Desserts are accompanied by a selection of savory items including bite-sized éclair sandwiches filled with smoked ham and gruyère; strawberry caprese, combining strawberry mousse and macarons; miniature beet burgers with beets and goat cheese; and smoked salmon tartlets with smoked salmon mousse and caviar.

High Tea sets for two guests are served with one cup per guest of tea, coffee or a limited-edition seasonal beverage. This season’s beverages are strawberry green tea latte, a blend of soft green tea cream and sweet strawberry cordial; strawberry lemon hibiscus tea, combining strawberry sweetness, lemon acidity and hibiscus aromas; and blue berry ade, contrasting the deep azure of blue curaçao with the scarlet hue of fresh strawberries.

Strawberry High Tea at Fairmont is served from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Atrium Lounge on the first floor of Fairmont Ambassador Seoul. Available by advance reservation only, it is priced at 75,000 won ($60) per person. The lounge requires that at least two guests order.
