Girl group Le Sserafim topped Japan’s Oricon Weekly Single Chart with the band’s debut Japanese single “Fearless” on Tuesday.

This makes Le Sserafim the first foreign female artist in five years to take the top spot on the chart.

The band’s debut single also sold 222,000 units during the first week of release, a record sales figure for the first week for a K-pop girl group in Japan.

“We are delighted and impressed ourselves to have achieved such a fruitful outcome — to rank first place on the Weekly Chart. We thank all the people sending us warm support and will try our best to show more charming performances in the future,” said the group during an interview with Oricon.

The group’s debut single “Fearless” topped all of Japan's largest music retailer Tower Records' charts on the week of Jan. 23 and on Jan. 29.
