SK Signet, an electric vehicle (EV) charger maker, bagged a 7.3-million-euro ($7.8 million) order from Britain, its first order from the European region.

The deal was signed between SK Signet’s European subsidiary and an unnamed oil company operating in Britain. SK Signet did not specify the name of the company.

SK Signet Europe also established a service center in Luton, England, to enhance its customer service in the region.

SK Signet Europe, the company’s European subsidiary, is based in Frankfurt, Germany, and began operations in December last year. The company is targeting the growing EV charger market in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and Spain.

The European Union aims to deploy over 3 million EV chargers by 2030.

Targeting the electric industrial vehicle market, SK Signet plans to introduce a megawatt charging system for heavy vehicles in the first half of next year.

"Europe, which is spearheading the global EV era, is a significant market for SK Signet and we are committed to electrifying Europe while contributing to the global net zero efforts with our ultra-fast EV Chargers,” said Shin Jung-ho, SK Signet CEO.

SK Signet is 53.4 percent owned by SK Inc. SK acquired the company in 2021.
