Director Park Chan-wook’s 'Decision to Leave' leaves Baftas empty handed

Director Park Chan-wook’s “Decision to Leave” lost to “All Quiet on the Western Front” at the 76th British Academy Film Awards (Baftas) for the Best Film Not in the English Language award Sunday local time in London.
 
The Baftas, which were founded in 1947, are considered one of the most prestigious film festivals in the English-speaking world. Park's “Decision to Leave” was his second shot at the award after his 2018 win for “The Handmaiden.” 
 
The Best Film Not in the English Language award went to Edward Berger for “All Quiet on the Western Front” from Germany. “All Quiet on the Western Front” also won Best Picture, Best Director among others, sweeping a total of seven awards.
 
Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” (2019) previously won the Best Film Not In The English Language award at the 73rd Baftas, and at the awards ceremony the following year, Yoon became the first Korean actor to win the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in the Korean-American production “Minari.”
 
Park and the main cast members of “Decision to Leave” did not attend the awards ceremony.
