'The Roundup: Punishment' hits 1 million ticket sales in just two days

"The Roundup: Punishment" surpassed 1 million ticket sales on the second day of its release, marking the fastest a film has reached this milestone in the domestic box office in 2024.
A total of 1,033,223 people watched the crime action film on Wednesday, its release day, and Thursday, according to the Korea Box Office Information System (Kobis) on Thursday.
The movie attracted 821,631 audience members on its release date, surpassing its prequels’ opening numbers to become the highest-opening film in the "The Outlaws" franchise. The audience number for "The Roundup: Punishment" also places it at No. 4 among the biggest openings for domestic films in the Korean box office, following "Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days" (2018), "The Battleship Island" (2017) and "Train to Busan" (2016).
Don Lee returns as cop Ma Seok-do in "The Roundup: Punishment," this time to chase down criminals in the Philippines. He goes against Baek Chang-ki, played by actor Kim Moo-yul, who is a drug lord and the head of an illegal online gambling organization.
The action flick features the two fighting in a sharp, finesse-oriented boxing style to enhance viewers’ entertainment, according to actor Lee.
