Social running platform operator Runable formed a strategic alliance with wearable device company Garmin on Tuesday to target the social activity content market.

Runable and Garmin joined forces to develop and grow health-related social activity content such as road running, trail running and marathon running, the two companies announced Wednesday.

They plan to introduce packages that convey the positive aspects of social activities and produce content on activities related to health, culture, environment and donation.

Runable and Garmin seek to create synergy by pushing for the mutual goal of making a healthy community. They have cooperated to create package products for the JTBC Seoul Marathon scheduled for November.

“Runable works to create a healthy and happy local community with social activities such as the JTBC Seoul Marathon, 157K or Trail Korea,” Runable CEO Ryu Young-ho said. Ryu said he looks forward to providing tailored benefits to Runable users by cooperating with Garmin.

Runable is the first running platform in Korea that started service in August 2021. The cumulative distance covered by its runners reach up to 2 million kilometers (1,242 miles), or 50 laps around the Earth.
