The entire board of directors and vice presidents of the Korea Football Association resigned Tuesday, a week after attempting to pardon 100 people banned from Korean football.

대한축구협회가 한국 축구계에서 징계를 받은 100명의 사면을 시도한 1주일 뒤인 화요일, 이사회 및 부회장단이 전원 사퇴했다.

The KFA said Tuesday that all board members will submit official letters of resignation. They will be considered as having resigned from the KFA, as the standing rules stipulate that the submission of a resignation letter is regarded as resignation, regardless of whether the organization accepts or not.

대한축구협회는 화요일, 이사회 전원이 공식적으로 사직서를 제출할 것이라고 했다. 협회 정관은 사직서 제출이 곧 사임으로 규정하고 있기 때문에 협회가 이를 수용하지 않더라도 이들은 사임한 것으로 간주된다.

The mass resignation comes after the KFA unexpectedly announced last Tuesday that it would pardon 100 former and current players, coaches and referees who had been suspended or disciplined. Fortyeight of the 100 people had been banned for matchfi xing.

이번 총사퇴는 지난 주 화요일 대한축구협회가 제명됐거나 징계를 받은 100명의 전·현직 선수, 지도자 및 심판을 갑작스럽게 사면하겠다고 발표한 뒤 이뤄졌다. 100명 가운데 48명은 승부 조작으로 제명된 바 있다.

The KFA reversed the decision last Friday, but the board, vice presidents and those involved in the decision continued to face backlash.

대한축구협회는 지난주 금요일 사면 결정을 취소했지만 이사회, 부회장단 및 결정에 관여한 이들에 대한 반발이 계속됐다.

Vice president Lee Dong-gook eventually announced his resignation from the KFA through his Instagram on Monday.

이동국 부회장은 결국 월요일 본인의 인스타그램을 통해 사임을 발표했다.

The KFA said that it will not allow an administrative vacuum and work on countermeasures, despite the resignation of the entire board.

대한축구협회는 이사회 전원 사퇴에도 행정 공백이 일어나지 않도록 하겠다고 했으며 대책을 마련하겠다고 밝혔다.
