Suzy to become global ambassador for hanbok

Singer and actor Suzy will join a new project to promote Korea's traditional dress, hanbok, worldwide.
The project, titled Hanbok Wave, has been organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation to globally promote hanbok by supporting creative hanbok designers in creating new hanboks for Suzy to wear and promote, including through billboard advertisements in Times Square, New York.
"Our aim is to create hanboks that can appeal both in Korea and abroad," Korea Craft & Design Foundation said in a press release.
The government will be selecting and funding six different enterprises to design 10 hanboks each, aiming to keep the hanbok's tradition and forms while also having the hanbok personalized for Suzy.
The selected design will be revealed in the second half of 2023 through a promotion event by the ministry and the foundation.
Suzy, whose real name is Bae Suzy, made her debut as a member of girl group miss A in 2010 and kicked off her acting career with the 2011 drama "Dream High." She is best known for her leading role in the 2012 film, "Architecture 101."
