Singer and actor Suzy will promote Korea's traditional dress, hanbok, in the middle of New York's Times Square.
A video featuring Suzy wearing newly-designed hanbok will be displayed at Broadway in Times Square in New York from Dec. 24 to 25, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Friday.
The hanbok dresses worn by the actor have been designed by six different companies in collaboration with the Culture Ministry's Korea Craft & Design Foundation.
The six companies are Songhwa by Jeong, OUWR, Yu Hyun-hwa Hanbok, Tchai Kim, H, Apply and Hanbok Moon.
"We will continue to make policy efforts, such as supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in developing diverse products, to advance the hanbok industry and [promote] hanbok."
Hanbok featured in the Culture Ministry's project will be available for viewing on www.hanbokwave.com starting Dec. 26. Videos of Suzy wearing the hanbok will also be released on the Korea Craft & Design Foundation's YouTube channel.
