A media art exhibition on national heritage will be held across seven municipalities from August to October, the Korea Heritage Service and Korea Heritage Agency said Tuesday.
 
Starting at Jinju Fortress in Jinju, South Gyeongsang, the 2024 Korean Heritage Media Art exhibitions will continue at the Gwanbuk-ri administrative buildings and Busosan Fortress in Buyeo, South Chungcheong; Mireuk Temple Site in Iksan, North Jeolla; Gongsan Fortress in Gongju, South Chungcheong; Buncheong Kiln Site in Goheung County, South Jeolla; Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi; and Gangneung-daedohobu Government Office in Gangneung, Gangwon.
 
A preshow titled “Meta Heritage” will take place at the Haeundae Platform cultural complex in Busan from Friday to Aug. 4, featuring works from media art studio Artech.
 
The exhibition at Jinju Fortress runs from Aug. 2 until Aug. 25, and is comprised of media facades and will coincide with the city’s Night of Jinju & Heritage Story festival and M2 (Music & Media) Festival.
 
The Buyeo exhibition runs from Sept. 6 to 29 under the theme of Sabi, the third and final capital during the Baekje Period (18 B.C.-A.D. 660).

Iksan will explore the 1,400-year history of the Mireuk Temple from Baekje to the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) between Sept. 6 and Oct. 6.
 
Gongju’s Gongsan Fortress exhibition, running from Sept. 13 to Oct. 10, will present media art related to King Muryeong (r. 501-523) of Baekje.
 
The Goheung show is open from Sept. 13 to Oct. 6 and dives into buncheong, or gray-blue powdered celadon at the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum and the county’s kiln site.
 
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, especially in its Hwaseo Gate, will present media artworks on King Jeongjo (r. 1776-1800) from Sept. 28 to Oct. 20.
 
Finally, Gangneung sheds light on renowned scholar Yulgok Yi I (1536-1584) and novelist Heo Gyun (1569-1618), who were both born in the eastern city. Heo is the author of the Korean classic “Hong Gildong Jeon,” or “The Tale of Hong Gildong.”
