Hyundai Motor's promotional videos rallying support for Busan's World Expo bid garnered over 100 million views in total, the carmaker said Monday.

The first video for the promotion campaign featuring local residents in Busan and foreigners living in Korea was released on May 26, ahead of an on-site visit by the inspection team from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

Since then, two series consisting of 37 videos in total have been uploaded on Hyundai Motor’s YouTube channel and reached a combined view count of over 100 million on Sunday, according to the company.

As the promotion campaign is aimed at rallying support for Busan’s bid to host the World Expo in 2030, Hyundai Motor expects its videos to further bolster public attention on the southeastern city ahead of the BIE general assembly, which will run from Tuesday to Wednesday in Paris.

The 37 promotional videos feature local residents in Busan as well as foreigners from BIE member countries promoting the city in their native languages. Of the 101 million view counts, overseas viewers accounted for some 70 percent of the total, said Hyundai Motor.

During the upcoming BIE general assembly, President Yoon Suk Yeol plans to give an English-language speech to promote Busan’s bid.

Korea is competing for the 2030 World Expo bid against Saudi Arabia's Riyadh, Ukraine's Odesa and Italy's Rome. The final decision will be made in November.
