The new Genie TV and ENA drama “Lies Hidden in My Garden” starring Kim Tae-hee and Lim Ji-yeon will air its first episode Monday evening.
Based on the novel of the same name, “Lies Hidden in My Garden” revolves around two women, Moon Joo-ran and Chu Sang-eun, each played by Kim and Lim respectively, who get involved in a murder that starts with a funny smell in Joo-ran’s front yard.
“Kim and Lim are two actors who any director would love to work with,” director Jung Ji-hyun said during the press conference for “Lies Hidden in My Garden” held at a hotel in Mapo District, western Seoul on Monday.
“Kim is an icon that swept Korea for an age, and Lim has shown that she is capable of great feats through ‘The Glory.’ I am honored to be able to work with them.”
Kim, for whom “Lies Hidden in My Garden” marks her first television role in three years, expressed excitement for the drama.
“I had not realized that it had been three years since my last television role,” Kim said at the press conference. “I am very excited to be returning to the small screen. ‘Lies Hidden in My Garden’ is a mystery thriller which is not a genre familiar to me, but I was deeply intrigued by the script.”
“It is a great honor to have had this opportunity to work with Kim,” Lim said. “We relied a lot on each other while playing our respective roles in ‘Lies Hidden in My Garden,’ and I have learned a lot in the process.”
Lim said that since she had played the role of a bully in her previous work, “The Glory,” she wanted to turn around and play a victim in her next role.
“I wished to know Sang-eun as a character better, and once I read the original novel, I was hooked,” Lim said. “After ‘The Glory,” many have said that it was a new discovery of me as an actor. I hope to show through ‘Lies Hidden in My Garden’ that there are actually very many sides of me to be discovered.”
“Lies Hidden in My Garden” premiers Monday on Genie TV and channel ENA and can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video in certain regions.
