Health strike

The Korean Health and Medical Workers’ Union announces Monday it will go on an indefinite strike starting Thursday to demand the government expand its financial support for the health and welfare industry, including caretaking. Ninety-two percent of the union members voted in favor of the strike on Friday. If the strike goes as planned, it would be the largest strike from the health sector since it protested the government’s privatization of the medical industry 19 years ago. [YONHAP]
