Actor Gang Dong-won establishes his own entertainment agency

Actor Gang Dong-won established an independent entertainment management agency, AA Group, the agency confirmed to the Korea JoongAng Daily on Tuesday.

Gang had been a free agent since December last year when his exclusive contract with former agency YG Entertainment expired. The actor had not signed to another agency since, fueling speculations that Gang was in talks to establish an agency on his own.

A representative of AA Group confirmed to the Korea JoongAng Daily that the agency was established by Gang and is in works to potentially sign other talent to the company.

Gang began his career as a model, debuting in 2000 after being spotted on the street by an agent. He debuted as an actor in 2004 with the romantic comedy “Too Beautiful to Lie,” and made his breakthrough through the film “Temptation of Wolves” (2004). He has since starred in a number of successful films including “Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard” (2009), “Secret Reunion” (2010), “Kundo: Age of the Rampant” (2014) and “The Priests” (2015).

Gang's most recent work is the upcoming mystery thriller film "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman," set to open in Korea on Sept. 27.
