LG CNS announced Thursday it will open an AI data science program at Korea University's graduate school, providing scholarships and employment opportunities to students.

LG CNS signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea University on Wednesday to establish the program, agreeing to open the program by the end of this year.

The company will offer full scholarships and stipends for enrolled students. Those who graduate will be automatically offered a position at LG CNS.

Over 20 students will be admitted to the program every year, with admissions starting next year, according to the company. Foreigners are also allowed to apply to the program.

Professors from the university's Institute of Data Science and data and AI researchers at LG CNS will be in charge of creating curriculum and teaching courses.

"To strengthen our competitive edge in our [digital transformation] business, being able to secure talented individuals with professional knowledge and problem-solving skills is key," Hyun Shin-gyoon, CEO of LG CNS, said. "We will work with Korea University to foster data and AI experts, which will allow us to offer better services to our customers."
