Blackpink's Jennie is preparing for a solo album, the singer said in an interview with the Korean branch of U.S. fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar.

"I'm making a song that's by Jennie, the most Jennie and something unique that is only Jennie's," she said in an interview with Harper's Bazaar Korea.

The singer's solo album would be the first to come in almost five years since her single "Solo" was released in November 2018.

The song stormed charts in and outside of Korea and surpassed the 300-million-stream threshold for the first time for a K-pop female soloist's song in 2021. Its YouTube music video also surpassed the 900-million-view mark for the first time for a K-pop female solo singer earlier this year in March.

Blackpink members are currently in talks with their agency YG Entertainment on whether to extend their stay with the company.

A Korean news outlet reported earlier this week that only Rosé will be staying while others — Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa — have agreed to sign with other companies. YG Entertainment refuted the report and said it is still in talks with the three.

The members recently held the finale concert to their "Born Pink" world tour with two shows at the Gocheok Sky Dome in western Seoul on Saturday and Sunday.
