A man in his 70s was stabbed at Sangbong Station in Seoul on Friday afternoon.

Police and Seoul Metro Corporation said that an unidentified young man stabbed the elderly victim in the thigh with a cutter knife at Sangbong Station in Jungnang District, eastern Seoul.

The station is on Line 7 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway.

Police immediately began tracking the assailant, who fled after the stabbing. There had been some sort of altercation between the two before the stabbing, police said. The older man's shoulder reportedly collided against the younger man before the altercation.

The victim was transferred to a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening leg injury.

After tracking down his location through CCTV footage, the Seoul Jungnang Police Precinct arrested the suspect at his home in Guri, Gyeonggi, at 6:35 p.m., about three hours after the incident.

Police are investigating his motives and questioning witnesses.
