Korea adds another gold in taekwondo as Park Hye-jin triumphs

Taekwondo practitioner Park Hye-jin beat Lin Wei Chun of Chinese Taipei 2-1 in the women’s -53kg final on Tuesday, claiming another gold medal for Korea in taekwondo.  
 
Park faced Lin at Lin'an Sports Culture Convention & Exhibition Center Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China and won the first round 7-6.  
 
She lost the second round 9-7, but bounced back to grab the third round 12-9 for a final score 2-1.  
 
She secured a gold with a victory, which was Korea’s fourth gold in this year’s Asiad taekwondo. Korea has secured four golds, one silver and one bronze so far in taekwondo.

Kim Yu-jin also won a bronze in the women’s -57kg minutes earlier in the day.  
 
Taekwondo is one of the sports that Korea has the best chance of securing multiple medals in this year, as it has been the winningest country in the tournament with 88 medals to date.  
 
They also claimed the most medals in 2018, winning five gold, five silver and two bronze.  
 
Korea may see more medals in the remaining days of the tournament, with such discipline as men’s -68kg and men’s -80kg still scheduled to take place this week.  
 
The taekwondo schedule will wrap up on Thursday.
