Korea bags 12th shooting medal as Lee Won-ho takes silver

Lee Won-ho won a silver medal in the men’s 10-meter air pistol final at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Thursday, adding another medal to Korea’s already impressive medal haul.

Just a day after Korea hit double-digit shooting medals, with 11, Lee raised that total to 12.

Lee scored 239.4 points in the final held at Fuyang Yinhu Sports Center in Hangzhou, China, falling slightly behind Pham Quang Huy of Vietnam with 240.5 to take silver.

Lee scored the lowest among eight competitors with his first five shots, managing 47.6. His shots gradually became better, however, and it was a contest between him and Huy at the end.

The Vietnamese shooter’s final two shots were slightly better, scoring 10.4 and 9.9, compared to Lee’s 10.1 and 9.0.

Svechnikov Vladimir of Uzbekistan came in third to take bronze with 219.9.

Lee’s silver was Korea’s 12th medal in Asian Games shooting. Korea has secured 12 medals with two gold, four silver and six bronze as of press time Thursday.

The amount of medals in shooting this year has already matched the 2018 haul.

Korea may see one more medal on Thursday, as Choi Min-ki and Jang Koo-khee are due to face Liu Jiangchi and Jiang Yiting of China in the skeet mixed team’s bronze medal match later in the afternoon.
