Korean women shooters shine with rifle, pistol at Asian Games

Korean shooters’ accuracy was on display again at the Hangzhou Asian Games as Korean rifle and pistol shooters added three bronze medals from the 50-meter rifle 3 positions team, 25-meter pistol team and 25-meter pistol individual final on Wednesday.
The rifle team of Lee Eun-seo, Bae Sang-hee and Lee Kye-rim competed at Fuyang Yinhu Sports Center and together scored 1,756 points, settling for a bronze after China with 1,773 and India with 1,764.
Yang Ji-in, Kim La-na and Sim Eun-ji took the baton in the 25-meter pistol team event. The 25-meter pistol event is contested in two stages: Precision and rapid — one round for accuracy and another for speed.
Yang scored a perfect 100 points in the first rapid series, before managing 99 and 98 points in the second and third rapid series respectively.
The three managed 1,742 points in total, with India securing a gold with 1,759 and China claiming a silver with 1,756.
With one bronze already in hand, Yang competed in the 25-meter pistol women’s final and scored 29 points, falling behind Liu Rui of China with 38 points and Singh Esha of India with 34 to secure another bronze.
Wednesday’s three bronze medals wrapped up the shooting schedule of the day and raised Korea’s shooting medal count to 11 — two gold, three silver and six bronze.
